It seems lately like there are all kinds of people expecting a child…. this is my third maternity shoot this spring! And luckily for me, more are on the way!  You may remember this sweet couple from back in December 2012 – they were the first winter wedding I ever had the pleasure of photographing.  Now they have their own little boy on the way, and I could not be happier for them ♥

Lindsay and Brad, I know you weren’t too sure you wanted to do maternity photos, but I’m really glad that you did… it’s such a special time in your lives, and I think these really capture that feeling ♥

I was certain it was going to pour rain the night of our session… that’s what the forecast said… but luckily the forecast was all wrong! And then after we had finished up, and were chatting for a bit, the sun actually came out… so I had to take advantage. Thanks for being up for “just one more” guys!

Little Emma that you’re about to meet, is officially the youngest newborn I have ever photographed. She managed to give me a run for my money though…. at 4 days old, she was feeling a bit unsettled… so I decided to come back a couple of days later… and what a difference! She was so sleepy and cuddly and happy for round two. Between the 2 days, I was able to get a ton of photos… including some with some extended family, and some of her super cute big brother. There’s definitely lots of love in these images, that’s for sure. Here is a small sampling of some of my favourite images so far:

This little buggy is pretty special…. it came all the way from South Africa…. it’s a good thing Daddy remembered it when it came time for the photos ♥

I posted this next image on my facebook page last week…. do you see the heart?? It was so amazing to me how the light and shadows just fell perfectly to create it ♥

And this final image…. well for whatever reason, it’s my favourite…. I think it’s the dreamy, hazy feel to it. Plus, there’s nothing quite like a mama holding her new baby ♥

“I’ll love you forever,
I’ll like you for always,
As long as I’m living
my baby you’ll be”

I’ve been a bit absent from this project by times, but I’m happy to be back again this week. Now that our weather is sunny and warm (finally!), I couldn’t resist the chance to get out and do some shooting for myself. Dandelions aren’t the prettiest things in most people’s opinion, but when you photograph them really up close, they are actually really cool. I’ve posted photos of them before, but I wanted to take a different approach to shooting them this time. I went with a softer, more ethereal feel…. I hope you enjoy them!

I did two edits for the following photo… not on purpose…. I was actually preparing it to post on here, and clicked something by mistake…. and the 2nd photo is the resulting image. It’s totally different, and there’s something about it I absolutely love! ♥

My good friend Denean has a post up this week as well… you’ll find her post here

I have been very fortunate to work with some fantastic couples in the last few years, and Robyn and Josh were no exception. I met them for their engagement session at a family property in Bathurst, where the wedding is actually going to be taking place. It’s right on the water, with lots of sandy beach – and seriously it couldn’t have been more perfect (except for the snow and ice still around, haha). They even brought their dog alone for a few shots. The goal was to just be fun and natural, and we definitely achieved that! These two were seriously completely relaxed in front of the camera – it was like I wasn’t even there – and that truthfully makes for the best photos!

After the beach we hit the road and found a nice snowy trail with those “twiggy” trees I love so much. A little snowball action and some crazy antics ensued, resulting in some seriously great moments. The only thing I asked them to do that didn’t just “happen” was a dip… and they nailed it first try.

I seriously love how this next photo turned out…. it’s so hard to get jumping shots just perfect, but somehow it happened. One of my favourite shots of the day for sure!

Robyn and Josh met back in high school, but didn’t actually start dating until many years later. They wanted to make a little visit to their former school for a few shots, and it was a very different and cool background for engagement photos!!

This final location was a fluke…. right in Bathurst, by an abandoned factory I believe? And I noticed it on our way to the school. So on the way back, I just knew we had to stop. I guess photographers look at these types of places differently than most people…. I’m sure it gets looked at as an eyesore to many, but I absolutely needed to get a few photos there…. and we definitely got a few cars honking when we were there, haha!

Thanks for being so awesome Robyn and Josh – I can’t wait for your beach wedding this summer! ♥

This is little Miss Ellie…. she just turned one, and she’s all kinds of cute and fun! I had such a great time photographing her (although admittedly, she wanted nothing to do with me at first). She was definitely pretty in pink! We played with balloons, easter eggs, read a book in the comfiest pink chair, and even wore bunny ears (well, I did anyway, haha). And we got to finish it off with an epic cake smash…. which was great considering we figured Ellie wouldn’t bother with it much at all…. and it ended up being quite the opposite. Happy birthday little girl! Here are my favourites from our session together:

So get on your way”
