I’m not sure what’s in the water lately, but wow, does there ever seem to be lots of mamas expecting these days! I absolutely love shooting mamas-to-be, so it’s been so much fun for me this spring/summer. Every maternity session is unique, and I try to capture the essence of each and every woman that steps in front of my lens. Nicole has done hair for many of my gorgeous brides on their wedding day, so when she asked me to document her pregnancy with her family, of course I was super excited! These were at one of my favourite rustic locations, and Nicole’s 3 “looks” definitely had that bohemian vibe she wanted. The only down side was the literally gazillion flies around, but getting these photos was 100% worth every single bite we got.

Big brother Asher’s expression in this first photo is priceless, don’t you think? ♥

I take a lot of family photos, but I have to say, these next two are right up there with my favourites – I love the natural, candid feel of these.

Asher’s little hand on mama’s belly….. doesn’t get much sweeter than that ♥

I always try and leave some of my absolute favourites for the end…. ♥

Thanks again, Nicole, for asking me to document this very special time in your life…. I can’t wait to share the rest with you!

I’ve been lax about posting to my website lately, I’ll admit…. busy season is already here! So I knew it was time to get back to blogging again. The last time I photographed Alyssa and Travis was 3 & 1/2 years ago, and he was just a baby… and have these two ever changed! I love seeing how kids grow up from behind my lens. I know their Mom really well from our days back in University, so it’s always a treat to work with this family ♥

These aren’t the most “conventional” portraits you’ll find around, and actually that’s what I love about them. The more I just let them “be”, the more fun they had – and the more natural and relaxed the photos were. I got to photograph them in one of my favourite scenarios – the evening sun and a field full of long grass and weeds…. it’s seriously so beautiful ♥

I only have one word for this one…… LOVE ♥

There’s something I love about this next image…. I can’t quite put my finger on it…. again, totally unconventional (I originally wanted them to lay on their bellies together), but it totally makes me giggle when I look at it.

We did get a little trampoline action in at the end of our session…. and actually I have to say, I love how these turned out also. The kids had lots of fun for sure!

These are just the sneak peek images…. I can’t wait to share the rest with you Sherri and Paul! Thanks again for asking me to do this – I loved it!!

I had booked Vanessa and Adam for this session several months ago, and with the weather the way it’s been, I was certain it would end up raining…. but was I ever wrong! It was a little breezy, but we had some of the most gorgeous evening light I’ve seen in awhile.  It’s no secret that I love shooting at this time of night – it really is the most gorgeous and flattering light to work with! We started out at the beach, and worked our way into the city, where we ended up photographing at the water’s edge with the sun setting…. it was absolutely perfect! Here’s a sneak peek of my favourite photos so far:

The way the light hit my lens in this next photo, it ended up being pretty hazy…. and honestly I actually almost deleted it. But I love the fun and natural smiles so much that I kept it ♥

These last two ended up being my favourites overall (although honestly it was hard to pick)… I always love a good silhouette, but there’s just something about the first image I absolutely LOVE.

Vanessa and Adam, I had a blast working with you both!! I absolutely cannot wait until your wedding this fall ♥

As a photographer, I don’t think there is any session that can be any more challenging or unpredictable than one with a newborn baby. They always dictate how the sessions will go… feedings, diaper changes, necessary cuddle time… it’s all par for the course. Jase was the model baby…. he needed a little comforting and a quick change, but otherwise things went very smoothly!  I even managed to capture a few little smiles! He’s a cutie, that’s for sure! Here’s a sneak peek of our time together when he was just 1 week old:

How cute is this soother?! Love!!

My session with Heather and Jacques earlier this week certainly started off with a bang…. just as they were arriving in Miramichi from Moncton to meet me for their session, they got a flat tire!! Luckily they were able to make it to our meeting place, so that they would have a safe place to change it once we were done with photos.

We started out at one of my favourite places (still!), at a relative’s farm back in Bartibog. The bugs were out in full force, but we didn’t let that stop us. From there we went to the beach, where the water was as calm as could be. We didn’t get the sun I was hoping for, but the rain held off, and I’m so incredibly happy with each and every photo ♥.  Here are some of my favourites:

Why hello there Mr. Chicken….. these guys were new since I had last take photos at the farm, so I couldn’t resist a quick photo!

I am so looking forward to your August wedding you two!!! Can’t wait to show you the rest of your images too!! ♥
