A couple of weeks ago, I met up with Kailey and Sam for their engagement session. That night was seriously picture perfect…. that time of night that photographers refer to as “the golden hour”…. the light was just gorgeous. You can technically try and duplicate those kinds of lighting conditions in Photoshop, but honestly, there’s nothing quite as beautiful as the real thing. On this particular night, everything literally came into place… including the horses appearing about halfway through the evening. This couple loves horses, so that was such a nice surprise.

These two rocked their photo session…. no joke…. and they were so patient while I played with the light a bit towards the end of the night. As a result, I got some pretty fabulous images. If only I could bottle up that gorgeous late evening sun and use it every day!!

Here are some of my favourite images from this pretty stellar engagement session…. enjoy! ♥

This brother and sister were visiting Miramichi with their Mom, all the way from Calgary, a couple of weeks ago, and I am so excited that I was able to get some portraits of them just playing and having fun. I wasn’t able to take photos of them when they were here last fall, so I was really pleased that I was able to work with them this time around!

“The farm” seemed like the best place to go, and although the horses weren’t around, the kids got to see some chickens and turkeys, and just run around and enjoy the natural beauty of this spot. It’s one of my favourite places to take clients… simply because of how peaceful and beautiful it is there.

Nikka definitely challenged me, more so than her older brother, but I absolutely love all the shots I got of both of them…. just being themselves. They are both just SO sweet!! Here are some of my favourites ♥

I can’t explain how much I love this one of Nikka…. there’s something about it that I just adore ♥

This next one is, well, just plain silly…. but how can you not smile when you see this… haha!!

Love ♥ !!!

I don’t know about anyone else, but I really think this last image is canvas-worthy…. Grey is such a loving big brother to his little sister Nikka ♥

Thanks again Sherry for getting in touch with me to do this photos while you were home!! I hope to work with you all again in the future ♥

I’ve always believed that things happened for a reason…. Back in March, when my only July wedding had to suddenly cancel on me, I was sure I wouldn’t rebook the date. Another couple had inquired with me about that date, but because I was already booked, I referred them to another photographer. Fast forward to May 1, and I get a message from Lindsay, asking if I was available for a wedding July 12. I met up with her and Jeff the next day, as they happened to be in Miramichi (they were living in Alberta but recently relocated to NB). We chatted for a good while, and realized the people we had in common. I knew Jeff’s sister, and my cousin Shawn and his wife Natalie (who I went to school with since elementary school) were good friends of their’s.  They told me all about their plans for the wedding, which was to take place in Grand Lake – everything was going to be outside, relaxed, fun… and lots of vintage props (Lindsay is actually getting into rental of these props, which you’ll get to see some of shortly). I knew we were on the same page as far as style of photography, and would get along just great – so I was pretty psyched when I heard from them the next day that I was the one they wanted to document their wedding day!!

Exactly one week before the wedding, Arthur blew through…. and did significant damage to most of NB, including the wedding location. Lots of people helped get everything cleaned up (and the power came back on the day before the wedding), and honestly, I wouldn’t have even known how bad it was…. everything looked so beautiful! I felt like I walked straight into something off of Pinterest, to be honest.

Lindsay and Jeff, I am so grateful that circumstances worked out for me to be able to photograph your wedding…. I barely knew you at all, but honestly you feel like old friends now. I wish you guys a lifetime of love and happiness!!! ♥

Here’s your sneak peek….. ♥

‘Cause all of me
Loves all of you
Love your curves and all your edges
All your perfect imperfections
Give your all to me
I’ll give my all to you

The last time I photographed Tara’s family, it was just her girls, Alex and Layla… and it was 3 years ago. This time, the whole family was in on the action, including baby #3, who is expected to arrive this August. We decided to do the photos at the beach, and I’m so glad we did, because the girls had a blast!! Nothing says summer quite like kids running and splashing in the water ♥

Our timing was perfect…. it was threatening rain, but it didn’t start until just as we were finishing…. which was a great chance to get mama-to-be in the water for a few shots… along with Alex and Layla. I think that particular shot is one my favourite family shots to date!!

*THIS* image….. I seriously LOVE it…. and it’s totally the black and white that makes it. Sometimes an image just does that to me ♥

Will you be getting a little brother or little sister soon, girls? Nobody knows…. I can’t wait to hear all about the excitement ♥

Thanks again, Tara! I had a blast with you and your family!!

Once upon a time, I shot a gorgeous winter wedding…. one of the photos from that wedding even made it into a magazine. Fast forward to June, 2014…. and this couple has now become a family of 3. Welcome, Archer Bradley Gilliss.  You were very prompt, arriving on your actual due date! You share your initials with a beloved family member… and you are just oh, so sweet. I am just so in love with the softness and simplicity of these images… no fancy props required! Thank you yet again, Brad and Lindsay, for welcoming me into your home, to capture the most precious of memories ♥
