When asked to describe my style in just a few words, I’ll be honest in saying I had a difficult time. A few words that come to mind though, are: fun, fresh, relaxed and unique. I love to capture moments as they happen, with as little “posing” as possible. There is a place for a classic portrait (which I LOVE), and a posed family shot, but the vast majority of the photos I take during our time together will not be posed at all.
Some of my favourite photos I’ve taken have been totally candid and unplanned. I’ve had sessions with kids running and splashing in the water; some playing in the mud; and others just running through a grassy field in the sunshine. I think it’s important for your photo session (and your wedding day) to be FUN and RELAXED.
I love taking photos in the sunshine – while a cloudy day will yield nice even lighting and rich colours, playing with the light and giving your photos a unique look is something I absolutely love to do whenever I get the opportunity. I will also admit that I am a little quirky behind the lens – but I think whatever makes people laugh, smile and just have a good time is very important. I might make funny faces, funny sounds, lay in mud or wet grass, or stand there with some strange object on my head, if it will bring about natural, unforced smiles. To me, those are the best kind. Sometimes it takes little ones time to warm up to having a camera pointed at them all the time, and that’s okay – that’s why my sessions are up to 2 hours. I find by doing that, there is no pressure to rush, and that’s when their true personalities shine through.
Ultimately, I want your photos to be a true reflection of YOU. They should be a treasured memento that you display in your home for years and years to come. Does this sound like something you would like for your own photos? Drop me a line by using the contact tab at the top of this page, or email me at email@example.com – I’d love to help document some of those precious memories.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and to check out my photos. I love what I do, and I truly hope you enjoy what you see.
