52 Fridays – Week 25 {Miramichi NB Photographer} {Personal Project}

Pin It

One more week, and we’ll be halfway through this weekly project. Wow, this year is flying by! This week our theme is…

{f/1.8}

For you non-photographers out there, this f-number refers to “aperture”, which is just one of the settings in photography which affects the look of your photos. Basically, the lower this number is, the more light can enter your lens, and the shallower the depth of field is (meaning you will have a very small area in focus, while the rest has a lovely blurred effect). And the reverse is also true – the higher the f-number, the less light enters your lens, and the more area of your photo that will be in focus. One of our themes in the upcoming weeks is f/16, so you will see then just how this difference affects the look of the photo.

Here are the photos I shot at f/1.8 – notice how little is actually in focus – it really draws your eye to that spot, while the rest of the photo is nicely blurred.

I am so anxious to see the photos for everyone else in our group this week. First up are Stacy and Aldo of D’Lara Photography in Downer’s Grove, IL.

I love that shooting at 1.8 can make the likes of weeds look beautiful! Of course your lighting is perfect too!

The light is just lovely in these photos! And the PP is really natural and earthy too, it’s great, nice work!

Beautiful. Reminds me of my littlest, who would always bring these home from preschool as a present to me–smashed and brown from being in his pocket since recess. I’m sure this is how he saw them when he picked them for me. Thanks!
